Here’s another look into how the KOTR comes up with those hot records. Today’s edition is none other than the fan favorite “The Product” produced by Unc Mike. The craziest part of that classic record has to be the fact that the day we came up with, wrote AND recorded the record was the first day we met Unc Mike. Unc was a long time friend of mullaney so it was only natural that at some point those ingredients would get mixed up to see if we could cook up a hit. Unc bought a beat CD that had like 10 beats on it (for y’all, last song, the product, hand on the bible…) and as soon as we heard it we knew we had to get to work. In typical chief fashion before the rest of us scribbled down any rhymes he called his dibs on the hook. About an hour later we had completed the record that later became known as “the product”. The number one question we get asked about that record is: why’s it called the product? We don’t mention those words anywhere in the song… Well, it’s called that because it was the product of everything coming together perfectly. The right instrumental, the right chorus, rhymes that resonated with the listener. It was the product of Us. Keep In mind that before that day, there was no group or label called the KOTR…

How it happened: For Y’all

Ever hear a record and wonder… How the hell did they come up with that? Well here’s the answer. We gonna try and give y’all a glimpse into the kotr and the situations that helped us come up with our hits.
For Y’all was one of those records that had to happen. It was crazy Thro and I (nov) were in the lab going over the most recent batch of Unc Mike beats tryinna decide what would be the next to get the work put on it… It was almost immediate that we decided on that one. About 30mins later we had the foundation set. Thro and I had recorded our verses and organized the beat the way we needed it. All we needed to do now was get the rest of the team on it. Vital was over an hour away in Long Island so we uploaded it to the dropbox (dropbox) which allows us to sync sessions from our studio to Vitals, and chief had pneumonia. Literally. So we got the joint back from vital bout a day later and chief came through to see how much work we’d got done like a week later (you know on his General shit. Lol) still barely walking but couldn’t resist the song. The rest is history. But keep that in mind the next time y’all listen to the record and hear chief say “they done pissed me off like I’m too sick to spit sick” he literally was!

Whaddup yall.
The Kotr was back in the lab again last night gettin some much needed work done. We recorded 2 group songs (1 produced by unc mike 1 by the homie cypria). We also recorded the last song for the NovyNova mixtape coming at yall this weekend. We uploaded a new song to the website which is our take on the song “Crime Wave”. We’re also trying our best to get yall that 3 2 1 music video by this weekend.

What’s good yall. Your favorite group is back in the lab again. Nov has to lay his verse down on the new Unc Mike banger. The team is writing some new records. Trying to decide which songs to release… We literally find music that we forgot we even recorded. Crazy!!! It’s nothing new for the team to be in the lab. the weather sucks outside, so we decided to do what we do best, make some more hit records to bless your ear drums. In the lab tonight is Chief, Throbak and NovyNova. We’ve just started on our first group song of the night. Got a couple solo joints we’re tryinna finesse also so it should be a productive night. we’re gonna try and send out a video blog later so ya’ll can get the post game wrap up. Holla at us
